Last night I watched the second Hobbit movie, and I was tearing up before the opening title, right when the music started it cued the water works. Being a huge fan of Tolkien’s novel, and The Hobbit was the first of his books I read, there’s just something about the movies that makes me emotional. Despite the extremely artistic license Peter Jackson took with these films, and the major differences you can find between novel and the movie, I am still able to enjoy myself and appreciate the incredible beauty the movies have captured of Middle Earth. Also, despite the jam packed movie theater, I was surprisingly, still able to enjoy myself despite losing my arm rest to an older man who took up far too much room on my right hand side, and the obnoxious sneezing that happened towards the end of the movie. About the movie itself; man was it intense. Or perhaps that’s an understatement. The last quarter of the movie had me tensed in my seat, eyes glued to the screen, I caught myself several times with my mouth open, for it was beyond amazing.
Overall, it was an incredible experience, and I eagerly await my copy of the first Hobbit movie in the mail, so I can begin watching it over and over like LOTR before it, and I’m sure I’ll be seeing the Desolation of Smaug at least once more this year.
And of course, Happy Holidays everyone! THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME REACH 700 FOLLOWERS!!!!!!!!
Question time! I’d love to hear from everyone else, whether you’ve seen it already, or are anxiously awaiting your turn, please share with me what you liked most about the movie, or what you are most excited about?
